I had the privilege of being the Keynote Speaker at the Sandyvale Memorial Day Ceremony.

PFC William P. O’Farrell Memorial Bridge Dedication

Four images. One of people standing around a sign that reads PFC WILLIAM P O’FARRELL MEMORIAL BRIDGE in white over green, one of photos of O’Farrell and a folded American flag on a table, one of a room full of attendees, and one of Senator Langerholc speaking at a podium.

Last week, I held a dedication ceremony for the PFC William P. O’Farrell Memorial Bridge in Nanty Glo, Cambria County.

William O’Farrell was born October 9, 1948, in Johnstown, and raised in Nanty Glo. O’Farrell had always wanted to become a Marine, so he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from Nanty Glo-Vintondale High School and served during the Vietnam War.

PFC O’Farrell was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, and arrived in Vietnam on March 16, 1968. On April 17, 1968, one month after his tour began, PFC O’Farrell was killed in action by hostile fire in Quảng Trị province, South Vietnam.

The bridge, carrying Pennsylvania Route 271 over Pergrim Run in Nanty Glo, will serve as a lasting reminder of the courage, service, and sacrifice of PFC O’Farrell.

2026 Aerium Summit

Three images. One of a group standing, one of three men standing, and one of a group gathered in a room.

I addressed the opening session of the 2026 Aerium Summit this week. I am proud to have supported this from its inception, 4 years ago. Over the years, I have secured more than $12 million in state funding for aviation in our area. This unprecedented collaboration will continue to yield economic development, jobs and educational opportunities.

I also welcomed United States Senator Dave McCormick to the Aerium Summit. It was great to highlight the progress that we are making and show him firsthand what our region is experiencing. Proud to continue to partner with him to further this endeavor and always grateful for his support.

35th Showcase for Commerce

Five images. One of a group standing in front of a stage, one of a room of attendees seated at tables for breakfast, one of a group standing, one of Senator Langerholc speaking with someone, and one of Senator Langerholc speaking with someone.

I attended the opening reception and the John P. Murtha Breakfast at the 35th Showcase for Commerce in Johnstown. This event showcases and highlights the great work that is done in the region, not only in the defense sector, but in the business industry, as well.

Senate Citation for Dan Barefoot

Senator Langerholc standing with Dan Barefoot.

I had the honor of presenting a Pennsylvania Senate Citation to Dan Barefoot. Dan made our region proud this past winter as he competed in the Skeleton Mixed Team and Men’s Skeleton events at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy. He qualified for the Olympics after winning three consecutive events at the 2026 North American Cup Men’s Skeleton competition. I wish Dan continued success as he trains for the 2030 Olympics in France!

New Law Requires AEDs at School Sports Events

Heart-shaped image with lines depicting heart monitor readings.

Legislation approved by the Senate to help prevent the leading cause of death among young athletes – sudden cardiac arrest – is now law.

Senate Bill 375, now Act 17 of 2026, will require automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be present at all PIAA-sanctioned athletic events and practices. The law also requires schools to develop and rehearse emergency action plans for cardiac incidents. AEDs are portable, life-saving devices used to restore normal heartbeats with electrical shock.

The legislation was introduced after the tragic death of Greg Moyer, who passed away from sudden cardiac arrest during a high school basketball game in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County. Read more about passage of this new law here.
