HARRISBURG – Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) today announced the approval of more than $4.8 million in state grants to support projects in communities across the 35th Senatorial District.
The funding, made available through the Local Share Account grant program and released by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, is derived from gaming revenues and distributed to support public improvement projects.
“These grants will help our communities repair infrastructure, renovate facilities, purchase equipment and make other critical investments,” Langerholc said. “I am proud to have worked alongside Reps. Armanini, Conklin, Kephart, and Rigby, as well as local leaders, to secure adequate funding for these projects, which will enhance public safety, strengthen local services and improve quality of life.”
The following municipalities and authorities were awarded grant funding:
Cambria County
- Carrolltown Borough received $205,561 to repair damaged streets.
- Cresson Area Ambulance Service, Inc. received $189,731 to purchase three heart monitors/defibrillators.
- Cresson Borough received $76,800 to purchase a skid steer loader.
- Cresson Township received $49,365 to purchase and upfit a police vehicle.
- Cresson Township received $139,925 to purchase a backhoe.
- Ferndale Borough received $52,650 to replace a retaining wall along Plainfield Avenue.
- Geistown Borough received $84,510 to purchase and upfit a police vehicle.
- Lilly Borough Water Authority received $87,750 to purchase a backup generator.
- Loretto Borough received $25,360 to upgrade police department technology.
- Mount Aloysius College received $279,227 for improvements to the baseball and softball facilities.
- Portage Borough Municipal Authority received $29,400 to purchase a cold cut planer.
- Portage Borough Municipal Authority received $90,090 to install a tank mixer.
- Reade Township received $137,604 to purchase a dump truck.
- Reade Township Municipal Authority received $130,000 to rehabilitate two water tanks.
- Reade Township Municipal Authority received $50,855 to purchase a truck.
- Richland Township received $157,950 for the playground at Highland Regional Park.
- Richland Township received $229,739 to purchase and upfit a truck.
- Scalp Level Borough received $114,642 to purchase a truck.
- Spangler Fire Company received $450,000 to expand and renovate the fire station.
- Stonycreek Township received $98,138 to purchase an excavator.
Centre County
- Patton Township received $129,120 to pave dirt pump tracks at Bernel Road Park.
- Rowland Theatre, Inc. received $150,000 to purchase a building adjacent to the Rowland Theatre to preserve the structure of the theatre while undergoing renovations.
Clearfield County
- Bloom Township received $274,000 to construct a new salt and stone storage facility.
- Cooper Township Municipal Authority received $91,643 for a maintenance vehicle.
- Curwensville Borough received $135,641 to purchase and upfit a dump truck.
- YMCA of DuBois received $207,737 to renovate the YMCA facility.
- DuBois City received $90,000 to purchase and upfit two police vehicles.
- Ferguson Township received $127,500 to conduct a feasibility study and create a master plan for the renovation of two township properties.
- Grampian-Penn-Bloom Volunteer Fire Company received $36,942 to purchase a side-by-side utility vehicle with a snowplow and a skid unit.
- Houtzdale Borough received $129,191 to repair damaged streets.
- Houtzdale Fire Company No. 1 received $39,300 to replace floor drains in the fire station.
- Huston Township received $117,924 to purchase and upfit a dump truck.
- Huston Township received $94,668 to purchase a wheel loader.
- Muddy Run Regional Authority received $90,000 to purchase a utility vehicle.
- Penn Township received $297,422 to pave part of Tree Farm Road with Pike Township.
- Union Township received $128,022 to purchase and upfit a truck.
