JOHNSTOWN – The School Safety and Security Committee within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency approved two school safety grant programs for school entities according to committee member Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35).
Applications for the School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program will be accepted until Oct. 16, 2026, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. School districts, career and technical centers, intermediate units, charter schools and cyber charter schools are eligible for funding under this program.
Applications for the CPR/AED Training for Nonpublic Schools Grant Program will be open until May 13, 2029, or when all allocated funding has been awarded. Funding under this program may be used for training expenses for CPR and AED training.
“Protecting our schools is essential to safeguarding the future of young people across the commonwealth,” said Langerholc. “These programs give local schools the tools they need to strengthen security and keep students safe.”
Langerholc has served on the School Safety and Security Committee since its inception in 2018.
