Langerholc Applauds Appointment of Johnstown Resident to State Transportation Commission

HARRISBURG – Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) announced the unanimous Senate approval of the appointment of Johnstown resident Jim Vasilko to the Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission.

The 15-member Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission serves as the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The governing body oversees the state’s transportation system, creating long-term development plans and providing policy direction while working with PennDOT to ensure the commonwealth’s transportation needs are being addressed.

“The State Transportation Commission plays a crucial role in guiding the future of transportation in Pennsylvania,” said Langerholc. “I am pleased to see an established member of our community appointed to help carry out this important mission.”

Jim Vasilko is a lifelong resident of Johnstown and has been a small business owner in the community for over two decades. Mr. Vasilko brings to the board a background in the building trades and extensive experience in construction projects that further employment opportunities in the region.

“Maintaining the state’s transportation system requires significant planning and coordination,” said Vasilko. “I look forward to bringing my experience to the commission and helping to improve transportation infrastructure in our region and across the state. Transportation is a win-win for all Pennsylvanians.”
