HARRISBURG – Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and Rep. Frank Burns (D-72) today announced the approval of more than $2.5 million in state funding to help pay for community improvement projects across Cambria County.

“I am pleased to deliver this much-needed money to my district that will make a real difference in the lives of our residents. This state funding will allow our communities to move forward with essential improvement projects and critical equipment purchases that, while necessary, come at a significant cost.  I’ve worked diligently to advocate for these resources, and I’m proud to see that effort result in meaningful relief for our municipalities,” Langerholc said.

“Working with local municipalities, using my experience and seniority, we were able to secure over $2 million for much needed projects and equipment,” Burns said. “This type of state funding in my district is making a difference in our communities.”

Adams Croyle Recreation Authority will receive $63,019 to purchase two 60-inch diesel, zero-turn mowers and one subcompact frontend loader to replace inoperable lawn mowing equipment.

Blacklick Township will receive $34,052 for the renovation of Dr. Prideaux Memorial Park, North Street Park and Blacklick Township Municipal Park. 

Cambria County will receive $150,000 to replace the roof at the Central Park Complex in Johnstown’s historic Glosser Brothers Building.

Cambria County General Financing Authority, on behalf of Bishop McCort Catholic High School in Johnstown, will receive $178,500 to remove and upgrade the gym floor at the high school.

The Cambria County Redevelopment Authority, on behalf of the Red Cross of Chestnut Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, will receive $300,000 for the purchase of 11 vehicles designed to transport blood to hospitals, cancer centers and surgery centers across Pennsylvania.

Conemaugh Township will receive $262,000 for the repair or replacement of Hornet Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Luzon Avenue, Ticonderoga Lane, Killiwatt Street, Skyline Drive and Vogel Street; $68,478 to purchase attachments and equipment to add to their multipurpose tractor uses; and 44,492 for the purchase of firearms and laptops for the police department.

Daisytown Borough will receive $68,998 to purchase a small excavator for loading the borough’s new salt truck, maintaining the playground and baseball field, culvert replacement and repairs, stormwater ditch maintenance, debris removal and other miscellaneous work.

East Taylor Township will receive $130,848 to make upgrades at the Mineral Point and Dormer Street playgrounds, and $73,000 for electrical upgrades in the municipal building.

Ebensburg Borough will receive $42,000 for the restoration of the baseball and softball fields at the Ebensburg Memorial Ballfield.

Johnstown Redevelopment Authority, on behalf of West End Ambulance Service, will receive $459,9000 to renovate the West End Ambulance Service building.

Nanty Glo Borough will receive $259,033 to replace the roof and concrete apron of the borough fire station.

Upper Yoder Township will receive $123,600 to purchase a new backhoe with a heavy-duty long lip and cutting-edge bucket, and $69,593 to purchase a police interceptor vehicle.

Vintondale Borough will receive $177,592 to purchase equipment to maintain a flood control levee, which the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has deemed minimally acceptable/unacceptable due to the condition of the drainage structure and unmaintained debris. The borough will also receive $64,398 on behalf of Citizens Fire Company to purchase specialized fire apparatus equipment to aid with emergency search and rescue situations.

The funding was awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Agency’s Local Share Account.

The Commonwealth Financing Agency is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages and the distribution of gaming revenue.
