HARRISBURG – Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and Rep. Dallas Kephart (R-Cambria/Clearfield) today announced the approval $25.8 million in state assistance for critical water system improvement project in Clearfield County.
The Clearfield Municipal Authority will receive a $10.2 million low-interest loan and a $15.6 million grant from PENNVEST.
This project involves the construction of a new treatment building equipped with a membrane filtration system and associated components. Additional improvements include a new below-grade baffled concrete clear well, updated service pumps, process equipment, chemical feed systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, and a new supervisory control and data acquisition system. The existing chemical building will also be upgraded with a new roof and interior finishes.
“Strengthening our water infrastructure through essential safety upgrades is critical to protecting public health, supporting economic vitality, and ensuring long-term environmental resilience,” Langerholc said. “As a Board Member of PENNVEST, I’m pleased to see this funding serve as a catalyst for these much-needed improvements, helping to advance critical infrastructure upgrades that our communities rely on.”
“The more than $25 million in state assistance for Clearfield Municipal Authority marks a major investment in water infrastructure,” shared Kephart. “I was happy to support this project to improve safety, upgrade existing facilities and provide infrastructure that is built to last.”
PENNVEST is an independent agency of the Commonwealth providing financial assistance to fund construction of drinking water, sewer and stormwater projects in communities throughout Pennsylvania. PENNVEST is not supported by the state’s General Fund budget, which covers the daily operations and services of the Commonwealth. Langerholc serves on the PENNVEST board of directors.
