Friday: Ceremony Designating Highway for Cpt. Harry G. Cramer

HARRISBURG – A ceremony will be held Friday designating a portion of Route 403 in the name of Army Cpt. Harry G. Cramer said Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35.).

The ceremony will take place Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 294, 114 Main St., Johnstown.

Route 403, from the intersection with Route 3041 in West Taylor Township, Cambria County, to the intersection with Route 8010 in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, will be designated the Captain Harry G. Cramer Memorial Highway.

Cpt. Cramer, of Johnstown, led the first team of Green Berets to Vietnam in 1957. He was killed near Nha Trang, South Vietnam later that year. In the Korean War, Cpt. Cramer earned a Silver Star for valor and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for being wounded twice in combat.

The ceremony will include Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman (R-41), PennDOT and local officials, veterans organizations and Lt. Col. (Ret) Hank Cramer.
