Burns, Langerholc Announce $23.4 million in State Financing for Local Water Projects

HARRISBURG, April 15 — State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, and state Sen. Wayne Langerholc Jr., R-35, today announced $23.4 million in state financing for two critical water projects in Cambria County.

The Southwestern Cambria County Water Authority has been awarded a $2.5 million nonrepayment grant and a $12.7 million low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority for the Croyle Water Project. The funding will finance the replacement of approximately 34,000 feet of aging water line that has been experiencing leaks and water loss.

The Highland Sewer and Water Authority has also been awarded a low-interest loan of $8.2 million for the third phase of the Croyle Water Project. The funding will go toward the construction of 51,000 feet of water line in Croyle Township, where existing lines are past their useful life and prone to breaks and water loss.

“Our infrastructure and our ratepayers rely on state funding like this, so I’m happy to see it coming back home to Cambria County,” Burns said. “These are necessary projects that will ensure clean drinking water for our residents, and the state funding will definitely ease the burden on local ratepayers.”

“As a member of the PENNVEST board of directors, I am proud to bring this critical investment back to Cambria County,” Langerholc said. “This funding will safeguard access to clean, reliable water for our communities and provide much-needed relief to local ratepayers.”

PENNVEST is an independent agency that provides financial assistance for drinking water, sewer, and stormwater projects across Pennsylvania. It is not funded by the state’s General Fund, which covers the commonwealth’s daily operations and services. Langerholc serves on the agency’s board of directors.
