Langerholc, Rigby Announce More than $1.5 Million in Local Grants

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Wayne Langerholc (R-35) and state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) are pleased to announce more than $1.5 million in Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) grants to address infrastructure projects in Cambria County.

“Grants like these are competitive in nature, so we commend our local government leaders for being proactive in dealing with their individual projects,” Rigby said. “These are all much-needed upgrades to infrastructure and we’re happy to be able to assist them with these necessary improvements.”

Here are the grant recipients and descriptions of the projects:

Multimodal Transportation Fund

• Penn Cambria School District – $780,572 for transportation improvements near the high school and new wing for elementary students.

• Scalp Level Borough – $157,971 to improve Main Street from the border with Richland
Township to the intersection with Locust Street/State Route 3015.

• South Fork Borough – $265,835 for paving of B Court, 3rd Court, 4th Court and Portage Street.

“By repaving aging roads and improving traffic flow, these projects will enhance safety and mobility,” Langerholc said. “These investments will have a positive, long-term impact on area residents.”

“These projects address both improvements to existing projects and aging infrastructure,” added Rigby. “Sen. Langerholc and I are proud to work with local leaders and partner with each other in order to finalize funding for them.”

Small Water and Sewer Program

• Forest Hills Municipal Authority – $238,160 for a mainline extension project that will connect residents of Fifty Acre Road, Countryside Lane, Weaver Road and Naugle Drive with public sewer service.

• Municipal Authority of the Borough of Portage – $81,838 for a water supply improvement project near Mountain and Park avenues.

• Scalp Level Borough – $39,268 to address stormwater runoff and subsurface drainage issues along Park Avenue.

“These funds will help support expensive, but crucial, water and sewer projects in our communities,” said Langerholc. “I am glad to work with Rep. Rigby to deliver this essential support for local infrastructure and public health.”
