HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has awarded multiple grants for digital connectivity investments in the 35th Senatorial District, Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) announced today.
The grants were awarded as part of the ARPA Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP), a federal grant program designed to assist public institutions with acquiring digital devices needed to facilitate high-speed internet access in local communities.
“Even as broadband internet coverage increases, the cost of laptops continues to be a barrier to broadband access for many people,” said Langerholc. “By supplying laptops to these local organizations, these grants bring broadband connectivity into reach for more of our neighbors.”
The following devices were awarded in the 35th Senatorial District:
- Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers in Johnstown will receive 100 laptops.
- Flood City Youth Fitness Academy in Johnstown will receive 150 laptops.
- Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Johnstown will receive 100 laptops.
- The Alternative Community Resource Program, Inc. in Johnstown will receive 40 laptops.
- The DuBois Area YMCA will receive 25 laptops.
The DCTP program, backed by $20 million in federal funding, supports public-facing community anchor institutions, including libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Eligible projects focus on providing devices that facilitate broadband internet access while advancing digital literacy and skills training.
