HARRISBURG (Feb. 22, 2017) Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset) announced today that Hyndman Senior Center in Bedford County has been chosen to receive a grant of $82,420 to improve and expand services to older Pennsylvanians.
“This important Senior Community Center Grant will help Hyndman Senior Center increase the independence of our older Pennsylvanians even more than they already do,” Sen. Langerholc said.
“The Commonwealth’s 500-plus senior centers help older citizens stay happy, healthy and connected to their peers and their communities, while living as independently as possible in the comfort of their own homes,” Rep. Metzgar said. “This grant will advance that mission and enrich the lives of so many residents in our region.”
The grants are derived from proceeds from the Pennsylvania Lottery. The Hyndman center is part of the network of care provided by the Huntingdon-Bedford-Fulton Area Agency on Aging.
“As seniors remain more active and involved in our communities, it is wonderful to have programs and services such as Hyndman Senior Center available,” Sen. Langerholc said.
