Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25) to serve on the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing.
“I appreciate the confidence placed in me by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati to serve on this vital commission. I will use my post to continue my work addressing issues relating to the criminal justice system, including the opioid epidemic, keeping our Commonwealth safe, and being a voice for victims of crime,” Langerholc said. “Given my experience as a Cambria County Assistant District Attorney, I know how important sentencing guidelines are to delivering justice for victims.”
The commission is charged with creating and maintaining a consistent and rational statewide sentencing policy through the adoption of guidelines that promote fairer and more uniform sentencing throughout the Commonwealth.
The commission also collects data and information to systematically monitor and report on conformity to guidelines, advises and consults on policy and practices, and undertakes research and evaluation to determine the effectiveness of guidelines.
Langerholc’s appointment will run through February 4 of 2021.
