JOHNSTOWN –Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) sent a letter to the Public Utility Commission (PUC) opposing FirstEnergy Pennsylvania’s request to review its base electric rates.
Langerholc highlighted the financial challenges faced by his constituents and residents across the Commonwealth due to crippling inflation. He emphasized that ratepayers have already experienced significant increases in base electric rates and that an additional 10% increase at this time is unwarranted.
The proposed increase is intended to fund infrastructure repairs and establish an Electric Vehicle Pilot Program, which would provide rebates for electricians to install home electric vehicle chargers.
“The PUC should not be subsidizing a particular area on the backs of hardworking Pennsylvanians,” said Langerholc. “This plan is unnecessary and costly.”
Langerholc urged the PUC not to approve any rate increase at this time.
