Langerholc: Two Bridges to be Named Friday in Honor of Fallen Heroes

HARRISBURG – Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) will take part in two ceremonies Friday, May 3, to name local bridges in honor of servicemen who gave their lives in military conflicts.

The bridge carrying Iverson Road over Stevens Run in Blacklick Township, Cambria County, will be designated as the Private Donald D. Marsh Memorial Bridge. A native of Nicktown, Army PVT Marsh was killed in action on Oct. 31, 1944, while fighting the Axis forces in France.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Blacklick Township Community Center and Fire Department, 138 Duman Road in Belsano.

The bridge carrying Route 3039 over the Conemaugh River in Johnstown will be designated the Corporal Robert J. Rusnak Memorial Bridge. A Johnstown native, Marine Cpl. Rusnak was killed in action on Sept. 9, 1968, in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam.

The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the Johnstown American Legion, 114 Main St. in Johnstown.
